and it was her first major role, so it's understandable that she got swept up in the emotions of her character."I don't know if I could discern the difference between him and the character at that point in time because, again, I was just so caught up in the moment and the experience," she shared."I absolutely walked away from that project so convinced that there would never be a project as special as that."At the time, Mandy was definitely starstruck to be working with Shane, who had already starred in his share of hit TV shows and movies.It took me three years to get into drama school, but that film did a lot for me when it came to my professional growth. We thought about Shannon West, but it was actually taken by a girl.And then Shane: It was my decision when I started getting attacked. I did actually go by Bruce in high school because when I moved from Louisiana to California, I started to get teased in junior high that I had a girl's name. Basically when I turned 18, if someone called me Shannon, I knew it was my family.Mandy [Moore] and I couldn't go out anywhere at the time.[But] I was very grateful, and I still am grateful for it.
