During a discussion with Yahoo Movies UK regarding her role on , Rachel Mc Adams was quizzed about these disagreements, and the actress confessed that the pair certainly exchanged some strongly-worded thoughts on how the scene should play out.
“We certainly had intense creative conversations [on ],” Mc Adams recalled when asked about her original problems with Gosling.

I really like how he explains their breakup, because it sounds like something your grandpa would say with a wise look and you’d say “I never thought of it like that, but that’s a really good way to describe it.” He said they “Went down swinging and called it a draw.” Who talks like that except cool old grandfathers?
It’s also a very gracious way of saying they fought a lot and that it was mutual: “I mean, God bless The Notebook,” Gosling says.

But rather than wrecking production, this honesty created a bond between the pair that allowed filming to proceed in a smoother fashion, even though there was still the occasional issue with the actors.
